BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said the death of Narayanganj Jubo Dal activist Shaon will accelerate the democratic movement in the country.
He made the remark when he went to the home of Shaon in Nabinagar area of Fatulla in the district town on Friday.
He said the fascist Awami League-led government deprived the country's people of their voting and democratic rights for a decade.
Not only Shaon, but also attacks have been carried out on peaceful programs of the party's anniversary in numerous places, Fakhrul said.
"Our democratic movement is being obstructed and that is why we will continue the democratic agitation unitedly," he vowed.
Mentioning that Shaon did the politics of Jubo Dal and it has been proved, Fakhrul said, "If he does not do politics, police have no right to shoot and kill anyone in broad daylight."
"It is proved that Shaon was shot dead by police but they are lying. They no way can deny the responsibility of his death," he added.
Earlier on Thursday, BNP men clashed with police in Narayanganj city during a program marking the party's 44th founding anniversary.
Jubo Dal activist Shaon, 35, was shot dead allegedly by police, and around 50 BNP leader-activist and 15 cops were injured in the incident.
