$203.80cr remittance come home in August

The expatriate Bangladeshis sent remittance of around $203.80 crore, which is equivalent to Tk 19,361 crore, in August, the second month of the current fiscal year 2022-23.

The amount is 12.06 per cent more than that of the same period of FY 2021-22 when the country received $181 crore in remittance, Bangladesh Bank said in its updated report on Thursday.

The amount is, however, around $6 crore less compared to that of July, the first month of the FY 2022-23, when about $209 crore remittance came home.

In August, the most remittance came through Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) followed by state-owned Agrani Bank and private Dutch Bangla Bank Ltd.

The central bank officials said August witnessed more remittance than that of the same period of last fiscal year as the government gave various discounts and benefits in remittance.
