The Dhaka University (DU) authorities will hold admission tests through four units instead of five from the academic year 2022-23.
Through which units students will take part in entry tests and how they change their respective departments, its a strategy has been approved.
The approval was given at a meeting of the DU deans committee held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Tuesday.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman presided over the meeting while Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr ASM Maksud Kamal and the faculty deans were present.
The meeting decided that the admission tests will be held in four units - 'Arts, Law and Social Science Unit' for the students of humanity at the higher secondary level, 'Science Unit' for the students of science, agriculture and similar disciplines, 'Business Studies Unit' for the students of commerce, and 'Fine Arts Unit' for the students of any group.
In case of changing departments, the students of science, and commerce can participate in admission tests of the 'Arts, Law and Social Science Unit' for admission in the subjects under Arts, Law, and Social Science faculties, and the institutes concerned.
The students of humanity can take part in exams in Bangla, English, ICT, and Math/Statistics subjects in the entry tests of the 'Science Unit' for admission in the Math, and Statistics departments under the Science faculty.
The students of humanity, and science can sit in Bangla, English, ICT, and Economics/Math subjects in the admission tests of the 'Business Studies Unit' for admission in the subjects under the Business Studies faculty.
