A 45-year-old man, who was serving jail terms in a case filed over the attack on the motorcade of then opposition leader and current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Satkhira in 2002, has passed away.
The deceased is Zavid Raihan Lucky, former convener of Jubo Dal’s Satkhira Kalaroa municipality unit and son of Kawsar Ali Sardar of Kalaroa upazila.
He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Satkhira Medical College Hospital (SMCH) early Saturday.
Zavid was suffering from different ailments, including diabetic and lung diseases, said Al Ahmed Al Masud, Resident Doctor of the hospital.
In this connection, Mamunur Rashid, Jailer of Satkhira District Jail, said, Zavid was admitted to SMCH on October 24. Earlier, he was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital for two times after he fell sick in the jail.
Zavid was sentenced to 10 years and four years in jail after being convicted of two offences in the case.
