A court in Sunamganj district on Sunday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for killing his wife around 19 years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge Court judge Mohiuddin Murad handed down the verdict against Abdullah, a resident of Joykols village in Dakshin Sunamganj upazila.
Sources in the court said Abdullah demanded Tk 1 lakh dowry from his wife Shefali Begum but she refused.
Being denied, he physically and mentally tortured her on October 27, 2003, resulting in her death.
Later, the victim's mother lodged a case against Abdullah, his father Khasid Ali and mother Syedunnesa in this connection.
