Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has said the work of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) will remain closed for now.
He said this on Tuesday after visiting the crane accident spot in Uttara where five people were killed as a girder of under-construction BRT project collapsed on a private car on Monday.
He said there is no safety measures in the project area. As a result, the accidents are often being occurred. The development work will not be allowed to continue like this. The safety of the citizens must be ensured first.
The DNCC mayor also said, many projects including BRT, Metro Rail are going on in Dhaka. All project directors have been summoned to present at the Nagar Bhaban on Thursday. They can start work only after ensuring safety.
However, a case has been filed in connection with the crane accident.
Md Afran Mondol Babu, brother of the deceased Fahima Akter and Jharna Akter, filed the case against the crane operator, contracting company and other concerned people with Uttara Paschim Police Station on Monday night. The case number is 42.
Mohammad Mohsin, Officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
On the other hand, the Road Transport and Highways Department formed a five-member committee over the accident.
