Six people were killed in a massive fire that broke out at a polythene factory at Chawkbazar in the capital on Monday.

Fire Service Ware House Inspector Anwarul Islam confirmed the matter to Jago News around 3:45pm.

He said six dead bodies were recovered from the building of the factory.

Fire Service Deputy Assistant Bajlur Rashid said we have found six bodies so far and those have been sent to Midford Hospital. One of the six charred bodies was identified. The relatives of the victims have to receive the bodies after identifying those from there.

However, the fire stared around 12pm and it was brought under control at 2:20pm.

In a press briefing, Fire Service Director (operations and maintenance) Lt. Col. Zillur Rahman, said the plastic factory and the adjacent buildings have no fire safety measures. These establishments are very risky.

“The reason behind the fire could not be known yet. An investigation committee will formed in this regard,” he said.
