The government has started the COVID-19 vaccination programme for children aged 5-11 by administering the Pfizer shot to 16 students from Abul Bashar Government Primary School in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Thursday.
The special paediatric Pfizer vaccine will be expanded nationwide on August 25.
Health Minister Zahid Maleque launched the programme at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 12:30 pm.
On Wednesday, the Dhaka District Primary Education Board gave the list of 16 students.
Earlier on Tuesday, the health minister said that the parents have to register on the Surokkha app to get their children vaccinated.
It is to be noted that, a total of 15,02,400 doses of the first batch of Pfizer vaccine, which is specially formulated for children between the ages of five and 11, arrived in Dhaka on July 30.
