The High Court (HC) has suspended the order of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) that fined e-ticketing platform Shohoz.com Tk 2 lakh after receiving a complaint from Dhaka University student Mohiuddin Roni over irregularities in ticket sales.
A HC bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir Liton passed the order on Sunday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Shohoz.com filed a writ petition with the HC challenging the legality of the Tk 200,000 fine by the DNCRP.
Lawyer Tanjib-ul Alam filed the writ petition on behalf of Shohoz.com.
In the complaint filed with DNCRP on July 14, Roni mentioned that he did not get four train tickets after paying for them online and later went to the counter to find out that his tickets had been sold to someone else.
Later, Shohoz.com submitted a reply to the DNCRP against the complaint filed by Roni.
On July 20, DNCRP called a hearing over the complaint and the authority fined Shohoz.com Tk 2 lakh over its negligence in service to customers.
