BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday said that the Awami League-led government is in deep crisis and its fall is inevitable.
"The Awami League government is now completely in a deep crisis. We are very optimistic and confident, this government's collapse is imminent if we along with people can build a united movement," he said.
He made the remarks at 'Meet the OCAB) program organized by the Overseas Correspondents Association Bangladesh, an organization of Dhaka-based journalists working for foreign media outlets, at Jatiya Press Club in the capital of Dhaka.
About the country's current situation, Mirza Fakhrul said fuel oil prices have increased and it has already had an impact, and the government made also gas import dependent.
"Unfortunately, this government did not make any arrangement to lift (country's) own gas despite being in power for 15 years, he said."
The gas shortage is causing fertilizer factories shut down and a rise in the garment sector's production costs, he added.
