The government has decided to start area-based load shedding for a specific time in the country from Tuesday.
The decision was taken in a high-level meeting at Prime Minister’s Office on Monday.
Energy Advisor to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid were present in the meeting.
It was said after the meeting that, all shops will remain closed after 8 pm. The air conditions of all mosques will be kept off to save electricity. The government and private offices will run virtually.
The state minister said that the government decided to keep fuel stations closed for a day every week from Tuesday, in a bid to tackle the ongoing power and energy crisis.
The energy advisor said there will be one to two hours of load shedding per day.
