Mild heat wave may continue in parts of country

The ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue in different parts of the country, said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin valid for 24 hours commencing 9 am on Thursday.

"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Nilphamari, and it may continue," said the bulletin.

"Rain or thundershowers with intense lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet, divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi division with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country," it added

However, the day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 38.2 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi, while the minimum temperature today was recorded at 25.0 degrees Celsius at Hatiya.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6 am today was recorded at 15mm at Srimangal.

The sun sets at 6.49 pm today and rises at 5.20 am tomorrow in the capital.
