Eminent actress Sharmili Ahmed has passed away. She was 75.
She breathed his last at a private hospital in the capital on Friday morning.
Obhinoy Shilpi Sangha President and actor Ahsan Habib Nasim confirmed the death to Jago News.
She had been suffering from cancer for a long time, said Nasim.
Sharmili Ahmed was born in 1947. At the age of four, she started acting on stage. She started her career on radio in 1962, on film in 1964 and on television in 1968.
She worked in Dompoti, the first ever drama serial on Bangladesh Television. She acted in a mother role for the first time in the drama Agun, directed by Mohammad Mohsin in 1976.
Sharmili Ahmed acted in 400 dramas and 150 movies.
