Henolux Group owner Nurul Amin and his wife Fatema Amin have been placed on a two-day remand in the case filed for allegedly abetting the suicide of businessman Gazi Anis.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order on Wednesday after police had produced them before the court, seeking a seven-day remand.
The Rapid Action Battalion arrested the couple from Uttara area in the capital of Dhaka on Tuesday night.
Earlier on Monday, Gazi Anis, also the former president of Kushtia district unit Chhatra League, set himself on fire on the Jatiya Press Club premises in the capital.
Later, he was rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Institute Of Burn And Plastic Surgery where he succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.
Nazrul Islam, brother of the deceased, lodged a case against Nurul Amin and his wife with Shahbagh Police Station this afternoon accusing them of instigating his brother to commit suicide.
Family members of Gazi Anis claimed that he became frustrated as manufacturing company Henolux Group swindled his crore of Taka.
His maternal cousin Tanvir Imam in a human chain program said his brother killed himself being failed to get his Tk 1.26 crore back from Henolux company.
Earlier on May 29, Gazi Anis in a press conference at Jatiya Press Club said that he met Henolux Group owner Nurul Amin and his wife Fatema Amin in 2016, and in 2018, he invested the money in the company.
