Schoolboy Ashraful Ahsan Zitu, the prime accused in the murder case of Savar teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker, has been arrested from Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district.
The Rapid Action Battalion apprehended him, a 10th grader at Haji Yunus Ali School and College at Ashulia in Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka, on Wednesday evening.
RAB's legal and media wing director commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed the arrest to Jago News.
Earlier, police arrested his father Uzzal, also an accused in the lawsuit, from Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia district on Tuesday night.
Today, the court of Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Sheikh Muzahidul Islam placed him on a five-day remand in the case.
Earlier on Saturday, Zitu, 16, allegedly beat up his teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker with cricket stump, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, he succumbed to his injuries early Monday.
Ashim Kumar Sarker, elder brother of the deceased, lodged a case against Zitu and some unknown people with Ashulia Police Station in this connection.
Utpal Kumar Sarker was a lecturer in the Political Science department of the college branch of Haji Yunus Ali School and College in Ashulia area and president of the disciplinary committee of the institution.
