Sherpur flood: Bodies of 2 missing men recovered

Bodies of two men were recovered from different places on Saturday morning 13 hours after they went missing in flood water in Jhenaigati upazila of Sherpur.  

The deceased were identified as Ashraf Ali, 60, son of late Nafaz Uddin, of Boiragipara village under the upazila sadar union and Abul Kalam, 33, son of Sheikh Kader Ali, of Bagervita village under Dhanshail union of the upazila. 

Local union parishad member Md Rakib Badsha said Ashraf fell in flood water around 5pm on Friday. Later, local people recovered his dead body after seeing him floating around 6am today.  

On the other hand, Dhanshail Union Parishad Chairman Md Shafiqul Islam said Abul went missing around 5:30pm on Friday when he went to catch a duck in flood water. Later, Abul’s relatives recovered his dead body from a beel of Bagervita area around 6am today.    

Earlier, Fire Service members and local people conducted rescue operations to rescue the duo but they didn’t find them. Later, they postponed their rescue operations at 8am on Friday. 

Abdur Razzak, Sub Inspector of Jhenaigati Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
