Bangladesh received a blow ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies as Yasir Ali was ruled out due to a back injury. Yasir was expected to fill the spot of Mushfiqur Rahim after Rahim opted to skip the series to perform Hajj.
Yasir suffered a back injury while batting on 12 and subsequently retired hurt against the Cricket West Indies President's XI at CCG on 10 June. He did not take further part in the game while a subsequent MRI revealed Discogenic Back Pain on the Lumbar spine.
"Recovery from such injuries takes about two to three weeks time. Therefore, he will not be available for the Test series,'' Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh team director Khaled Mahmud has returned home due to a health reason. The team director didn't take a connecting flight from Doha and is now undergoing treatment at his home. ''He is stable now,'' a BCB official told Cricbuzz.
Tourists will play their first Test against the West Indies in Antigua from June 16 while the second Test begins on June 24 in St Lucia.
