A court of Gazipur on Monday convicted a young man and sentenced him to death for killing his brother in 2013.The convict is Raihan Uddin, 25, hailing from Thangerban area in Kaliakair upazilla of Gazipur District.The court also fined him Tk 15,000, in default, to suffer 6 months more rigorous imprisonment.According to the prosecution, there had been a long standing dispute between Raihan and his brother Jahirul over family feud.In the sequel of enmity they locked into an altercation on April 12, 2013. At one stage of altercation Raihan hacked Jahirul with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead on spot.Fatima Akhter, wife of Jahirul, filed a case with Gazipur Police Station on the same day.Saiful Islam, sub-inspector of Gazipur police station and investigative officer of the case, submitted a charge-sheet against Raihan Uddin.After examining the records and 10 witnesses, Gazipur District and Sessions Judge AKM Enamul Haque handed down the verdict.
