Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrim dies in Saudi Arabia

A Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrim has passed away after reaching Saudi Arabia.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir Kabir, 59, a resident of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila. 

Jahangir is the first Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrim to breath his last in Saudi Arabia this year.

Hajj management portal of the religious affairs ministry confirmed the death in a bulletin on Monday.  

Hajj flights from Bangladesh started on June 5. Till yesterday (June 12, 2022), 7,573 people went to Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh. 

A total of 128 flights will be operated from Bangladesh for Hajj. The last Hajj flight from Dhaka will leave on July 4.

The holy Hajj will be held in Saudi Arabia on July 7 (Zilhaj 9) subject to the sighting of the moon.
