A total of 23 people have, so far, been arrested in a case filed over the assault on three police members at Jurain in the capital of Dhaka.
Ashraf Hossain, the deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Wari Division, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Friday.
Earlier on Wednesday, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain put five people, including two lawyers, on a three-day remand in the case.
The accused who were remanded are lawyers - Sohakul Islam Rony and Yeasin Arafat Bhuiyan- and Md Sharif, Md Nahid, and Md Russel.
The court also granted bail to another accused lawyer Yeasin Zahan Nishan Bhuiyan.
On Tuesday night, the lawsuit was lodged against three named and around 450 unknown people with Shyampur Police Station in this connection.
The case statement said Yeasin along with his wife lawyer Nishat on a motorcycle was coming from the opposite direction on Jurain rail gate road around 9 pm on Tuesday.
At that time, sergeant Ali Hossain and traffic constable Siraj stopped them to check the documents of the vehicle.
Introducing herself as a lawyer, Nishat locked into an altercation with Ali Hossain, and at one stage, Yeasin pushed him.
During that time, 'Pathao' and auto-rickshaw drivers attacked the sergeant after the lawyer started shouting.
Shyampur Police Station sub-inspector Utpal Dutt Opu was also stabbed when he along with other cops came to the spot and the traffic police box there was vandalised.
Later, the injured three police members were rescued and admitted to hospitals.
