Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind may occur at different parts of the country in 24 hours as of 9 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershower with temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions; at many places over Barishal division and at a few places over Rajshahi and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions," said a met office bulletin.
"Southwest monsoon has set on over Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay," it added.
However, the day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 36.4 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature today was 22.4 degrees Celsius jointly at Mymensingh and Bogura.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 137 mm at Teknaf.
The sun sets at 6.43 pm today and rises at 5.11 am tomorrow in the capital.
