The expatriate Bangladeshis sent remittance of around $188.53 crore, which is equivalent to Tk 16,776 crore, in the fifth month of May of the current fiscal year 2021-22.
The amount is $28.57 crore less than that of the same period of FY 2020-21 when the country received $217.10 crore in remittance, according to the Bangladesh Bank's updated report.
The fourth month of April of this FY, however, witnessed around $201.08 crore remittance.
About the decrease in remittance flow in May compared to that of April, BB higher official said usually the expatriates send remittances before Eid for their families. That is why it was less this month.
