A suspected dacoit was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Akhaura upazila in Brahmanbaria on Sunday midnight.The dead man is Saiful Islam, 28, son of Idris Mia at Jangal village under Akhaura sadar upazila.Two police constable Nayan and Hannan were also injured in this incident. They were sent to upazila health complex.Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Akhaura Police Station Mosharrof Hossain said a gang of robbers were taking preparations to commit robbery in Tanmandail bridge area. Acting on a tiff off, a team of police conducted a drive there but sensing the presence of law enforcers, dacoits opened fire forcing the policemen to back fire that triggered a gunfight. Saiful died on the spot but other dacoits managed to flee from the spot, the OC also said.Police recovered a pipe gun and two native weapons.
