Two people were killed as a private car hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the capital’s Uttara early Thursday.
The deceased were identified as the auto-rickshaw driver Md Toiab Ali, 65 and its passenger Md Taifur Khandaker Ratul, 40.
The incident took place at Singer intersection area under Uttara 13 No. sector.
According to the source, Toiab were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead at 5:30am. Ratul died while undergoing treatment there around 9am.
Toiab’s son Tariqul said when his father reached at Singer intersection area, a private car hit the auto-rickshaw. At that time, two including his father were seriously injured. Later, they were sent to DMCH where doctors declared them dead.
Abdullah Khan, Sub Inspector of DMCH Police Camp, said two bodies were kept at the hospital’s morgue. The concerned police station was informed about the matter.
