Senior lawyer Advocate Md Momtaz Uddin Fakir and Abdun Noor (Dulal) have been elected as the president and the secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association for 2022-2023 session.
Chief of the election sub-committee Advocate Ozi Ullah declared the election results around 10pm on Wednesday while the poll was held on March 15 and 16, reports BSS.
In the president post, ruling Awami League backed white panel candidate Md Momtaz Uddin bagged 3,244 votes while his rival BNP backed blue panel candidate Barrister Md Badrudduza Badal got 2,479 votes.
Besides, in the secretary post, ruling Awami League backed white panel candidate Abdun Noor got 2,891 votes while his rival BNP backed blue panel candidate Md Ruhul Quddus (Kajal) bagged 2,846 votes.
Along with president and secretary, the Awami League backed white panel secured seven posts, including two vice-presidents and three executive members, out of 14 while BNP backed panel got remaining seven posts, including treasurer, two assistant secretaries and four executive members.
