Drives are on to arrest helmet-worn terrorists: DB

All of those who wearing helmets took part in the clash between the Dhaka College students and the traders in New Market area are the terrorists. They must be brought under the law. Several teams of DB police are conducting drives to arrest the helmet-worn terrorists.

Mahbub Alam, Joint Commissioner (south) of Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police, said this at a press conference held at DMP Media Centre on Wednesday noon.   

In a reply to a question from journalists, he said two youths - Nahid and Mursalin - were killed in New Market clash. Two cases filed in this regard are under investigation of DB police.

He said those involved are being identified watching the video footage of Nahid murder. 

The police officer also said many students have gone home or are in hiding due to the closure of Dhaka College hostels but several DB teams are trying to arrest them. 

On midnight of April 18, Dhaka College students clashed with the New Market traders and it lasted for around 2:30hours. Later, they again engaged in clash after 10am on April 19.

Two people were killed and more than fifty people also injured in the clashes. 

Later, police filed two cases against 1,200 including traders and students. 

Apart from, Nahid’s father Md Nadim Hossain and Mursalin’s brother Nur Mohammad filed two murder cases with New Market Police Station. Around 1,400 unnamed people were accused in the cases.
