New Market clash: Killers of Nahid, Mursalin identified

Three people, who killed Nahid and Mursalin during the clashes between Dhaka College students and New Market traders, have been identified.

Of them, one Rabbi, who is the student of the college’s residential hall, hacked Rabbi. Two people hacked Nahid and another hacked Mursalin with machete. 

A process is going on to arrest them.

The case investigating agency Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police said this on Saturday. 

DB police said it is seen in the video which spread in social media including Facebook that wearing a helmet Rabbi was hacking Nahid mercilessly. He is the student of Political Science department and also a resident student of the college.

In this connection, DMP DB’s Additional Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter said, two cases were filed in the incident. All video footages were analyzed and some people were identified.   

On midnight of April 18, Dhaka College students clashed with the New market traders and it lasted for around 2:30hours. Later, they again engaged in clash after 10am on April 19.

Two people were killed and more than fifty people also injured in the clashes. 

Later, police filed two cases against 1,200 including traders and students. 

Apart from, Nahid’s father Md Nadim Hossain and Mursalin’s brother Nur Mohammad filed two murder cases with New Market Police Station. Around 1,400 unnamed people were accused in the cases.
