Those responsible for the clash between Dhaka College students and New Market traders must face the law.
In a reply to the questions of the journalists, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said this at his office in the Secretariat on Tuesday.
“I am hoping that the incident will be cool down within few moments. Those responsible for the incident must face the law,’ the minister said.
During this time, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam said police behaved with the students softly due to the technical reason. The situation will not be taken under control by shooting.
Earlier in the morning, the students took the position at Nilkhet intersection and later they locked into clash with the New Market traders again.
Police fired tear shells to take the situation under control but they failed.
On Monday night, the students clashed with the traders in the New Market area and it lasted for 2:30hours.
However, the reason of the clash is still not clear. Following the clash, Dhaka College authority postponed all classes and exams of Tuesday.
