Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser resigns

Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser resigned from his office on Saturday night without holding voting on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Before tendering his resignation, Qaiser waved the much talked about "threat letter" to the house members and said he agreed to the government's point of view on this letter, reports Daily Pakistan.

He said he was sending this letter to the chief justice of Pakistan for further investigation.

He said he would also keep this letter in the records of the National Assembly and the opposition leader could see it if he wants to.

Qaiser also talked about his 26 years long association with Prime Minister Imran Khan. He said he had joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) when he was a student.
