Supervisor's body recovered from parked bus

Police recovered the body of a bus supervisor from inside the vehicle in Lakshmipur district early Saturday.

Deceased Riad Hossain Liton was the supervisor of a bus of 'Econo Service', and son of Dudu Mia, a resident of Mohammadpur village under Mandari union in Sadar upazila of the district.

Quoting the bus driver, Md Nahid, police said the bus reached Lakshmipur from Dhaka around 10 pm and it was parked in front of the deputy commissioner's office after dropping off the passengers.

Driver Nahid and old staff Shipon went to their respective home but a new assistant of the driver and supervisor Liton slept in the vehicle.

At around 4 am, Nahid returned and spotted Liton lying in a pool of blood on the floor of the bus.

Being informed, police, later, went to the spot and recovered the body.

Sadar Model Police Station officer in-charge Jashim Uddin said the bus driver was detained for questioning.

The new assistant went into hiding following the incident, he said, adding that his identity could not be known yet.
