Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said the BNP leaders are shifting the responsibility of their incompetence, inefficiency and failure to the government.
He made the remark while speaking at a press conference at his official residence here.
Quader came down heavily on the BNP leaders as they blamed the government that it was desperate to detain the BNP men in false cases to hide its failure, reports BSS.
"Such statements are their usual falsehood against the government. The BNP is resorting to this negative lying as it is not finding any issue to say something against the government," he said.
The AL general secretary said the annoyance of the BNP workers against their top leaders is on the rise due to their failure in movement and elections.
That is why the BNP leaders are talking nonsense to protect themselves from the rage of the party workers, he added.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the BNP leaders and activists will create terrorism, destroy public properties and peace and set buses on fire, and when the government will take actions against them in the public interest, they will say they are being arrested in false cases.
The law takes its own course, while the government has no interference in the judiciary, he said.
Noting that the perpetrators have no political identity to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the AL general secretary said the country's people have witnessed that Sheikh Hasina takes actions against wrongdoers without considering their political affiliations.
Many AL leaders were arrested during the cleanliness drive, he added.
Asking a question to the BNP leaders, Quader said whenever the law enforcers apprehend any criminal on specific charges, the BNP leaders deliberately make false allegations.
"So, does the BNP want to patron the criminals identified in its own party? The criminal and corrupt appeasement and nurture policy is part of the BNP's political culture," he added.
