21pc adults suffer from high pressure

One in five adult people (around 21 percent) suffers from high pressure, according to the the health experts.

They said around 51 percent affected women and 67 percent men don't know that they had high pressure. 

The public health experts said this in two journalist workshops titled 'hypertension and heart health' at Bangladesh Institute of Planners held on March 28-31. 

Research and advocacy organization Praggya Institute organized the workshops with the assistance of the international association Global Health Advocacy Incubator.

The experts stressed creating awareness about high pressure and making drugs and treatment available as high pressure increases heart disease and the disease-related death risk.

They also mentioned that more than 1 crore people died due to high pressure each year which is more than the total death because by various infectious diseases.
