A court has placed shooter Md Masum alias Akash to seven-day remand in a case filed over the murders of Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afran Prity.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossen passed the order on Monday.
Earlier, Masum was produced before the court and the investigation officer of the case sought fifteen-day remand for him.
On Saturday night, Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police arrested Masum from Bagura district.
Tipu, who was on his microbus destined for his Khilgaon home, was shot dead by a masked assailant in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area on Thursday night.
A rickshaw passenger Prity was also got shot and died on the spot.
Tipu’s driver Monir Hosen Munna got shot on his hand in the incident.
Later, Tipu’s wife Farhana Islam Dolly filed the case with Shahjahanpur Police station.
