The bodies of six people were recovered in a launch capsize in the Shitalakshya River in Narayanganj district on Sunday afternoon.
Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Md Shahjahan Shikder, officer in-charge (media cell) of Fire Service and Defence headquarters, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Narayanganj fire service, said the bodies are in their custody. Out of the deceased, one died at hospital.
The bodies were handed over to the victims' families through upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), he added.
Earlier this afternoon, the capsize took place after a cargo vessel hit a launch near the under-construction Nasim Osman bridge in Koylaghat area between Al Amin Nagar and Syedpur under Bandar Police Station.
