A man and his wife were killed and another was injured as a truck hit a motorcycle in Nilphamari district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased were Swapan Kumar, 30, son of Horen Roy, a resident of Borodoha village under Botlagari union in Syedpur upazila, and his wife Sumi Rani, 25. They both worked at Uttara EPZ.
Locals said a speeding truck rammed into a motorcycle at Kazirhat Bazar adjacent to Uttara EPZ on the Nilphamari-Syedpur road around 7:30 pm, leaving the couple dead on the spot and another injured.
The injured was admitted to Syedpur Upazila Health Complex, they said.
Swapan and Sumi met their tragic end when they and their co-worker Satish Chandra were going to the workplace on a motorcycle, the locals added.
Confirming the incident, Nilphamari Police Station officer in-charge Mahmud Un Nabi said they were trying to seize the killer truck and detain its driver.
