Bangladeshi die in Kolkata residential hotel fire

A Bangladeshi woman died and two others injured after a massive fire broke out at a residential hotel on Free School Street in Kolkata of West Bengal early Saturday.

The deceased is Shamimatul Arash, 60. 

Of the injured, one was identified as Mehtab Alam, a Bangladeshi.

On information, three units of fire service rushed to the spot and doused the fire. 

According to the source, the fire broke out on the second floor of the hotel at 4am. At least 10-12 rooms were damaged in the fire. Some Bangladeshis were staying in the rooms and were evacuated. Later, Arash was taken to SSKM Hospital in Kolktata in a critical condition and she died there.

It is suspected that the fire might have originated from an electric short circuit.
