The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has rested Shakib Al Hasan from all forms of cricket until April 30.
BCB's cricket operations committee President Jalal Yunus made the disclosure to the media on Wednesday.
That meant the Bangladesh ace all-rounder is not touring South Africa to play the Tigers' ODI, Test, and T20I series scheduled to be held from March 18.
Earlier on Sunday before leaving for the United Arab Emirates, Shakib told the media that he does not want to play in South Africa.
Today Jalal Yunus said the BCB took this decision as he sought rest.
