Six people have been arrested for allegedly raping a student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Gopalganj.
The arrestees are Rakib Mia lias Imon, 22, Pias Fakir, 26, Pradeep Biswas, 24, Nahid Rayhan, 24, Md Helal, 24, and Turza, 26.
The detective unit at the Rapid Action Battalion headquarters and RAB-8 in a drive nabbed them from different places of Gopalganj district.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, legal and media wing director of the elite force, said this at a press conference in the capital of Dhaka on Saturday.
He said the arrestees allegedly eve-teased the student on February 23, and later, they gang-raped her after she had protested the harassment.
Subsequently, BSMRSTU proctor lodged a case with Gopalganj Sadar Hospital in this connection, he added.
