A court in Lakshmipur on Wednesday sentenced five people to death and three others to life-term imprisonment in a murder case.
Condemned convicts are Md Jashim, Safiqur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Nur Mia Bepari, and Touhidur Rahman while lifers Md Jewel, Moktar Hossain, and Rahela Begum.
The district and sessions judge court's judge Mohammad Rohibul Islam handed down the verdict, the court public prosecutor Jashim Uddin confirmed.
The court sources said farmer Ali Akbar was hacked to death by his neighbours Nurul Islam, his son Jashim and others on September 7, 2018, over a land dispute.
