Thirty-six more people died from coronavirus and 8,359 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.
With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,560 and 18,53,187 respectively, a health directorate press release on Saturday.
As many as 34,766 samples were collected, and 35,074 tested in the past day.
During the period, 7,017 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,94,391.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 391,948,519 people and killed 5,745,738 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 310,712,794 across the world.
