Senior journalist, political analyst, coloumnist, and Bangladesh Pratidin's executive editor Peer Habibur Rahman passed away on Saturday afternoon. He was 58.
He breathed his last around 4:08 pm while undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Labaid Specialized Hospital in the capital.
Bangladesh Pratidin's news editor Nahidul Islam confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Peer Habib had long been suffered from various diseases, including cancer and kidney.
In October last year, he recovered from cancer after undergoing bone marrow transplantation at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre in India's Mumbai.
On January 22, he was infected with coronavirus and on the advice of the doctors, he was admitted to Labaid Specialized Hospital.
Though he made recovery from COVID-19 there but was, later, admitted to BSMMU for kidney difficulties.
While receiving treatment there, he was shifted to the ICU of Labaid Specialized Hospital on Friday evening after he had suffered a stroke.
Born on February 16 in 1964 in Sunamganj district town, Peer Habibur Rahman chose the journalism profession while studying at Rajshahi University.
In his professional life, he worked with Dainik Banglabazar, Jugantor, Manabkantha, and Amader Samay. Founder of online news portal Purboposhchimbd, he last performed his duty as the executive editor of Bangladesh Pratidin.
