Thirty-three more people died from coronavirus and 11,596 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.
With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,494 and 18,35,776 respectively, a health directorate press release on Thursday.
As many as 44,858 samples were collected, and 44,843 tested in the past day.
During the period, 5,955 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,81,092.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 385,808,200 people and killed 5,720,580 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 305,712,732 across the world.
