The Bangladesh government recorded 11,434 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total infections stood at 16,64,616 and fatalities rose to 28,192, a health directorate press release said on Friday.
As many as 40,134 samples were tested in the past day.
During the period, 752 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,55,597.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 343,572,515 people and killed 5,595,283 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 275,143,051 across the world.
