The Bangladesh government recorded 3,447 new COVID-19 cases and seven deaths in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total infections stood at 16,12,489 and fatalities rose to 28,136, a health directorate press release said on Saturday.
As many as 24,028 samples were tested in the past day.
During the period, 294 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,52,600.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 324,575,892 people and killed 5,549,271 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 265,469,845 across the world.
