Buses to run at full capacity

The government has now allowed operating public transport at 100 percent seat occupancy, backtracking on its previous decision.

Dhaka Road Transport Owners' Association general secretary Khandaker Enayet Ullah confirmed the matter to Jago News on Thursday.

"BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Mazumder informed us that public transport can run at full passenger capacity from Saturday.

"Because it will cause transport crisis if (buses) operate at half capacity," Enayetullah quoted him as saying.

The new decision came three days after the government had decided to operate public transport at half passenger capacity in an effort to fight the Omicron coronavirus variant.
