Twelve more people died from coronavirus and 3359 newly contracted the virus in the past 24 hours.
With this, the total fatalities and infections rose to 28,123 and 16,04,664 respectively, a health directorate press release on Thursday.
As many as 27,486 samples were collected, and 27,920 tested in the past day.
During the period, 302 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,51,955.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 317,841,380 people and killed 5,532,993 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 263,075,833 across the world.
