1491 new Covid cases, 3 deaths in 24 hrs

The Bangladesh government recorded 1,491 new COVID-19 cases and three deaths in the last 24 hours. 

With this, the total infections stood at 15,93,700 and fatalities rose to 28,102, a health directorate press release said on Sunday.

As many as 22,125 samples were collected, and 21,980 tested in the past day.

During the period, 217 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,50,905.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 306,184,600 people and killed 5,503,754 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 259,059,630 across the world.
