The Bangladesh government recorded 1,116 new COVID-19 cases and one death in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total infections stood at 15,92,209 and fatalities rose to 28,099, a health directorate press release said on Saturday.
As many as 18,586 samples were collected, and 18,275 tested in the past day.
During the period, 154 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total number of recoveries to 15,50,688.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 303,968,671 people and killed 5,499,267 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 258,400,698 across the world.
