2 pedestrians killed in Dhaka road accident

Two people were killed and four others injured as a bus ran them over in front of Gulistan toll plaza in the capital on Saturday morning.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.  

The injured are Ilias Hossain, 40, Omor Sharif, 45, Al Amin, 25 and Sajeeb, 26. 

Kabir Hossain Hawlader, Officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station, said two pedestrians were killed as a bus of Meghla Paribahan ran them over around 9:30am. The Bodies of the duo were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue. The killer bus was seized but its driver and helper managed to flee away.  

Md Shahjahan Shikder, Acting Officer (Media cell) of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said being informed, some members of the fire service rushed to the spot around 9:45am. They recovered two dead bodies and three injured people from the spot. Later, they handed two bodies to police and sent three injured to DMCH.   

However, another person injured in the incident admitted to the hospital later.
