Wife accuses Murad of assaults

Former State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Md Murad Hassan's wife filed a general diary, accusing him of mentally and physically assaulting her.

Dr Zahanara Ehsan lodged the GD with Dhanmondi Police Station on Thursday, officer in-charge Ikram Ali Mia confirmed to Jago News.

In the GD, she alleged that he assaulted her and their children physically and mentally, including used indecent languages towards them, in recent times.

Last today he scolded her and their children and attempted to beat them, and he went out of home after she had dialled 999 for help.

She said she feels insecured and fears harm by him any time.

Earlier on December 7 last year, Dr Murad resigned from his post as the State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, showing personal reasons.

The decision came after Prime Minister ordered him to step down from the Cabinet. 

He faced huge criticizms following his disrespectful comments about BNP chief Khaleda Zia's grandaughter Zaima Rahman during an interview.

Amid this, an audio clip of a phone conversation of him with film actor Mamnun Hasan Emon and actress Mahiya Mahi went viral on social media.

In which, he was heard using vulgar language to Mahi and threatening her to take a five-star hotel to rape, prompting a huge reaction among the country people.
